Dance in the New Year

We hope you are all having a wonderful start to the year. While this past year may have brought its challenges, we are looking forward to a new season filled with joy, laughter, and a renewed focus on health.

 

The Beta Qoph Wellness is designed to revitalize physical health while exploring mental and emotional well-being through daily mindful practices, movement, and reflection. All proceeds from this event will go toward supporting our "mommy market," providing for the homeless, and assisting children in need.

 

Our Beta sisters would love for you to join me in supporting these vital causes. You can participate at the following contribution levels:

 

- Level 1 ($10): Includes a pen or a purple bag.

- Level 2 ($20): Includes a water bottle.

- Level 3 ($30): Includes an event shirt.

- Level 4 ($50): Includes an event shirt plus bonus items.

 

Please stay tuned for daily updates and encouragement as we journey through this week of rejuvenation together. Share this event with your own networks, as wellness is a journey meant for everyone.

7 Gentle Stretches for Women

Do each stretch for 15 seconds

 

1. Neck Rolls – Start slow: tilt your head to the right, ear toward shoulder, then roll forward in a smooth half-circle to the left. Reverse. Feel the tightness melt away like unraveling a knotted necklace.  

 

2. Shoulder Circles – Lift shoulders up and then roll them back in a big circular motions. Imagine drawing slow, invisible circles with your collarbones.  

 

3. Cat-Cow Stretch – On hands and knees, arch your back like a cat, then sink into cow pose, belly dipping low and chest lifting. Breathe deep.

 

4. Hip Circles– Stand tall, hands on hips, and trace slow figure-eights with your pelvis. Pretend you are swirling honey, not rushing.  

 

5. Standing Side Stretch– Reach one arm overhead and lean gently to the side and then switch sides.  

 

6. Gentle Forward Fold– Hinge at the hips, let your torso drape down. Bend your knees slightly if your legs are tight. No need to touch toes yet. Breathe in and out through your nose.

 

7.  Ankle Rolls– Lift one foot, trace slow circles with your toes and repeat on the other side.

DAY 1

Afrobeat Gospel Workout – Rooted in Rhythm

 

Alright Beta family, drop what you are doing and clear a little space in your room! We are about to turn your relaxing room into a dance floor. Join our Gospel Afrobeats dance party 🕺🏾.

 

15 minutes where sweat meets praise, where your two-step becomes a worship move, and every movement shakes off stress. You’ll hit 2000 steps without and burn at least 130 calories!

 

For beginners…No equipment.. This is ALL FUN

You can even dance sitting in a chair

DAY 2

African Dance – Rooted in Rhythm

 

Today, we focus on grounding ourselves by building a stronger foundation in African dance. Please follow the routine below:

 

- Warm-up: Perform the seven stretches posted on Day 1 for five minutes.

- Cool-down: Complete our standard stretches for five minutes.

 

Wellness Focus:

Stay hydrated throughout the day and include fresh vegetables with at least one meal.

DAY 3

Vibe Time: “Step In The Name of Love”

We are going old school today. It’s time to step and glide in style.

 

Did you know that dancing captures the essence of revitalizing your physical health while stimulating your mental and emotional well-being? Keep in mind that each movement represents a different aspect of wellness, grounding, balance, struggle, and resilience. Remember, you are courageous and loved! 

 

Spend the next 5 minutes reflecting on self-love while you step to the beat. Hold these thoughts in your heart the rest of the day!

DAY 4

Low Impact Dance Workout

Your living room is about to become a dance floor! Get ready for a low-impact and super fun workout.

 

There are no fancy steps or complicated choreography required. Just focus on moving your body and finding your rhythm. Whether you are walking in place with style, swinging your arms, or letting your hips sway, just keep moving. You can even follow along and dance while seated in a chair.

 

After the workout, remember to cool down using the stretches we have practiced all week.

DAY 5

Welcome to Day 5 of our program! Today, we are diving into a Latin Dance Workout.

 

Whether you are a seasoned dancer or just want to try zumba dance walking, this session is tailored for you. This routine is beginner-friendly and incorporates a zumba dance workout accessible to everyone. Find your rhythm and stay in the groove!
